March NC Demos Blog Hop – A Little Flirty Flamingo!

Hello and welcome to another NC Demo Blog Hop!  The subject of this month’s blog is saying goodbye to our 2016-2018 In Colors.  Goodbye’s can be somewhat sad, especially when we’ve had these colors in our lineup for the last two years.  And I have to say, this was a group that I really liked.   BUT, when a set reaches retirement, it also ushers in a NEW set of In Color pads, paper, markers and embellishments!  We won’t know what they are until we get our hands on the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog (which will be SOON!), but I’m pretty sure we can rest easy knowing that SU! will be on trend with the new color selections.

The important thing I want to pass along to you, is that if you don’t currently have any of these colors and there’s one or two ( or ALL) that catch your eye, GET  THEM  NOW!  Our retiring In Colors ink pads, paper, markers, re-inkers and matching embellishments almost always sell out before the end of the retiring catalog.  So you’ve been warned, lol!

I decided to use Flirty Flamingo as my color for this month’s project.  And since we have a stamp set called Fabulous Flamingo, it was kind of a no brainer for me to grab that set.  I had actually made a card like this a while ago and used it in a swap.

But I went back and added a couple of things this time that was not in the original.  I wanted
to make Mr. Flamingo pop a little more so I covered his body with Wink of Stella.  It’s a little hard to see the shimmer but it’s very pretty in person.

And because I wanted him to be flirty, I gave him a little sparkle in his eye laugh You can also see the

Wink of Stella a little better in this pic.

I think he’s quite the handsome guy, what do you think??

If you are undecided about any of the retiring In Colors and need some inspiration, here’s a handy chart to help you.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  The supplies are listed below and I have instructions if you’d like them.  Just drop me a note in the comments and I’ll get them to you.  Thanks for visiting me and please continue on through the hop so you can enjoy what the rest of our talented demonstrators have created!  Next up is Jo Ann Hewins.

NC Demo’s April Blog Hop – Mom’s the Word

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for joining us on our Blog Hop this month.  Our theme is celebrating mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, or any woman who has made an impact on our lives.  This was a easy one for me, because my Mom has always been an inspiration to me, and continues to be.  She was widowed at a very young age and was faced with the daunting task of raising 5 children pretty much on her own.  Of course, there was support from her family, but at the end of the day she was the one who shouldered the main responsibility. She worked hard to maintain a loving home for us, and while we weren’t rich in the monetary sense, we were never without the things we needed.  And that continued throughout our lives, even into adulthood.  She was tough, but fair and the lessons I learned from her have made me the person I am today.  So, I simply want to THANK her for that.

I chose to use a combination of two stamp sets to create my card for this month.  And, as a result, you get to see a little sneak peek of one of our upcoming Host Sets!  The set is called Hand Delivered and it is just amazing!  In addition to the little placard (where you can create your own message!), you have choices of a bunch of balloons, a pile of books and a multi-tiered cake.  You also have a couple of options for the skirt, AND there are 7 sentiments!  So there’s lots of potential with this set.  I used the flower print because my Mom always wore a skirt or dress to her job. I always thought she looked beautiful!  So this pattern reminded me of how she used to dress.  The other set I used is Apron of Love.  I’m very happy that it will  carry over to the new annual catalog!   That’s where the flowers, hearts and “Mom” came from.  And just a reminder, while the stamp set and dies will carry over to the new catalog, you will NOT be able to purchase them as a bundle.  So, save yourself a little money and purchase it before May 31st so you can save 10% on the bundle!  The new host set will be available starting June 2nd.

It took no time at all to color in the pattern on the skirt using our markers.

I added a little bling to the card, using Wink of Stella on the hearts

and the flowers on the skirt.    And just to dress it up a little bit more,

I topped it off with a few pearls.  I really love the colors, Flirty Flamingo,

Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight go together really well, I think.

All supplies used are listed below smiley

I do hope you enjoy my card. Please continue on with our hop to see how the others chose to recognize the women who inspire them.  I am always so excited to see what my stamping sisters come up with!  Jo Anne Hewins is next on the list.  See you next month!!

Do Something Creative Everyday! – Atlanta Onstage Swap

By the time you read this, I will be sitting at the On Stage event in Atlanta, with 2 members of my awesome team, the Stamping Campanions!  And let me tell you, there’s no way to convey the excitement we’ll be feeling. laugh Because by this time we should have the new 2018-2019 Annual catalog in our hot little hands, lol!  It will be hard to keep focused on anything else, but we won’t want to miss one minute of all the info that will be shared, so we’ll have to stay strong and not spend the rest of the event with our faces in the catalog!  Getting a first look at new catalogs is just one of the many benefits of attending a On Stage event.  SU! really spoils us for the time that we spend with them.  We’ll be coming home with LOTS of goodies 🙂

Ok, now on to my swap.  I absolutely love it when I can combine stamp sets.  I knew I wanted to convey the idea of creativity so our Crafting Forever stamp set was front and center in my mind because that’s the sentiment that I wanted to use, Do Something Creative Everyday!  Then I got the idea of adding one of the pen images from the set.   And from there I thought, why don’t we let This Little Piggy help out with holding the pen?  To finish it all off, I needed a frame for the sentiment, so Painter’s Palette was perfect!  I just cut the frame part from the easel image for my needs.

I wanted the background to look like wood, so I used the Pinewoods Dynamic Embossing folder, but I didn’t really want it to be brown.  So, I tried several different color combinations and liked how Marina Mist gave a good contrast to the other images on the card.  I sprinkled a few of the sequins from the Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins pack, and then because I wanted just a little more BLING, I added rhinestones from our Rhinestone Basic Jewels set to top it all off.

I started off stamping the piggies on Whisper White card stock and using our stamping blends*  but that was getting to be a little too time consuming and I was already a little behind schedule completing my swaps (story of my life wink).  So I switched to stamping on Powder Pink cardstock and using a dauber with Powder Pink ink to sponge a little shading on the bellies of the pigs. That went MUCH faster!  Also, you might notice how nicely everything is cut out.

I can’t claim my skills on this at all.  I finally purchased a Brother Scan N Cut machine to help with the fussy cutting of images that do not have the matching die sets.  And so far, I am enjoying that extra help a lot!!

I hope you enjoy my card and that it brings a little smile to your face smiley  But most of all, I hope it makes you want to be CREATIVE!!

Happy Stamping, and stay tuned for updates about the NEW CATALOG!!!

*Stampin’ Blends will be available to order in the New 2018-2019 catalog!
