Hello and welcome to our October NC Demos Blog Hop. You might have started here with me, or hopped here from Frances Wagner’s blog, where she shared her fun project for this month.
This month is focused on making quick and easy cards for Fall/Thanksgiving or Christmas/Holidays. These cards can be used at a Stamp-A-Stack, Card Buffet, etc…The only rule is that you must use the Stack, Cut, Shuffle & Create technique to create 3 to 4 cards!
So what is this technique? It’s pretty simple, really. You stack three or 4 pieces of Designer Series Papers (5″ x 3 3/4″) and cut them together. Then, you shuffle those pieces to create different, but coordinated, cards from the same set of cuts. There’s no defined way to cut them. The cuts can be asymmetrical or symmetrical.
Here’s a couple of suggested layouts:

I prefer the asymmetrical version, so that’s what I went with for my card.
I used the Ornamental Christmas DSP (165990) for my projects. I took 3 pieces of 5″ x 3 3/4″ layers and randomly cut them. Then I shuffled the pieces so that I had 3 different layouts. Be mindful if your DSP has a directional panel.

Next, I mounted each of these layouts on to a piece of Basic White card stock measuring 5″ x 3 3/4″. I find this easier then mounting them on a slightly larger layer. It’s just like putting together a puzzle ;). Then I layered 2 of the designs on to Gold Foil card stock and one on to Basic Black. Then those layers were mounted onto a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card base. I altered my sentiments for each card and used images from the Ornamental Christmas bundle (166001). I also used heat embossing for a couple of the cards to give a little more WOW factor. Below are my finished projects.

If you have a lot of Designer Series Papers (like I do!), this is a great way to use up your inventory. You can even just make up a pile of layers to use for upcoming card needs. Just and add your sentiments and images and you are good to go.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this technique and that you will give it a try. Now please continue on to see what Tina and Frances have created for the hop. See you next month!!
