August NC Demo Blog Hop – Don’t Be Afraid to Sparkle!

Welcome to the August NC Demo’s Blog Hop!  Our theme for this month is “Don’t be afraid to Sparkle!”  You may have just come from Frances Wagner’s blog, and she always has great projects.  I love seeing how each of us approaches each month’s topic.  And we’d love to have YOU join the blog hop each month, it’s really a lot of fun and helps me stay in a creative mode.  Ok, let’s get on to this month’s topic.  I was so excited to see what it was because let’s be honest, who doesn’t like a little sparkle and bling?  I think I use Wink of Stella on just about everything I make because it gives my projects just a little more sparkle!

This month I decided to use one of my favorite sets and embossing folder (so far!) from the upcoming Holiday Occasions Catalog.  As a demonstrator, we are allowed to pre-order products before the catalog goes live so we can start making samples to show our customers laugh  If you’d like to have this privilege as well, ask me how!!   And if you’d like to receive a catalog, please let me know.  I’d be happy to get one out to you.
The set I chose to use is Country Home.  I love the images and the sentiments in this set (see below in the Product List).  And the embossing folder is the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder.  In fact, my projects use just about everything available in this suite of products!  I made 2 projects, so I’ll start with the card first.
I used one of our gorgeous new colors for my base and my 1st layer, Highland Heather.  And I used our new Dynamic Embossing Folder called Subtle.  If you look closely, you’ll see that it creates a linen type texture, just enough without overwhelming the main image.

I stamped the milk can and the flowers in Memento Black ink and then used our blends to color.  Then I used a very light touch of Frost White Shimmer paint to cover the cotton stems.  It really makes them stand out, although it’s a little tough to capture in the pics.  I fussy cut around the image and tied a piece of  Braided Linen Trim and tied it around the milk can.  I used the Tin Tile embossing folder with a piece of Silver Foil paper and mounted that on Soft Subtle card stock.  Then added the Basic Rhinestone embellishments.  I chose to just use the Thanks on the milk can as the main sentiment for the card.

Just look at the shine on the Tin Tile piece!  It’s beautiful and has the potential for so many combinations of paper, ink and techniques.  I know this is going to be a big seller!  You can also see the Shimmer White Paint a little better with this angle.

The 2nd project I made for this post is this cool Hexagon box.  I used directions from that I found here, Stamp with Peg. The box is actually pretty simple to create, so don’t be afraid to give it a try.  You will need to use a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock for the base.
I used DSP from the Country Lane pack, another item in this suite.  I LOVE the colors used throughout this package.  Fall is my favorite season so I’m always happy when our Holiday Occasions catalog comes out because I know there will be at least one new suite that focuses on this time of year.

I used one more item from this suite that also brings some SPARKLE to the project, and that is the new Chicken Wire Elements.  There are 6 sheets measuring 3 3/4 x 5 3/8, and you can cut that down into the shape needed for your project.    As you can see, I used a small piece behind the sentiment on the front of the box as well as behind the design on the top.  I colored the image with blends again, coordinating the colors with those in the DSP.  And I used the Shimmer White Paint, which I think shows up much better in these pics.

All the supplies used for these projects are listed below, and the new items can be ordered starting September 5th.  I hope you enjoyed the project and the SPARKLE!  Please continue on to see what Jo Anne Hewins and the rest of the amazing NC Demos have created for this blog hop!
