Staying Calm among the Chaos

The Sale-A-Bration Last Chance
Hello and Happy Monday!  I hope you are well and managing life through these very uncertain times right now.  We are definitely navigating some unknown territory with this virus and it has many people understandably concerned.  And while I look at social media fairly regularly, it can be a bit overwhelming right now with information that at times seems to be contradictory.  My personal recommendation is to follow the CDC website and use that as a source of information.  It is also good to keep up to date with your state and local county news to see what recommendations they are offering for where you live.  But above all else, I am remaining calm and practical in my day to day activities.  And I hope you are as well.

So, what can you do if you are practicing social distancing and limiting your outside activities?  Why you stamp of course!  My plan is to catch up on creating some cards for occasions I have coming up and playing with some of the new items I’ve recently purchased.  I also am planning to increase my videos so that people who are staying at home can watch and use them as inspiration for their own projects.  So stay tuned for more posts going on my YouTube channel.  I would LOVE it if you would subscribe!  Once I receive a specific number of followers, I can start doing LIVE YouTube videos 🙂  Below is the link to my channel:

Tags In Bloom – More SAB 2nd Release Items!

I notice that I tend to fall into certain color combinations and stay with them for a while.  Right now I seem to be using a lot of blues and greens in my creations.  It wasn’t my intention when I started working on cards for my March monthly class but it turned out that way, lol!  This is another card that uses some of the new 2nd release items from Sale-a-Bration.

We have so many papers and colors that coordinate so beautifully!  Just look at how the ink colors of Night of Navy, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock blend with some of the Perrenial Essence DSP.  And the Noble Peacock Foil paper placed behind the stamped label really helps the image pop.  To apply the ink to the Flowering Foils DSP, I just used a sponge dauber, one for each ink color.  And using a very light touch, I applied the ink in a swirling motion to help blend it and not leave harsh lines where the colors meet.  A light touch is always best, you can go back and add more color if you want to.  The Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon helped pull everything together.  And here’s a tip for you, this ribbon can be colored with any of our Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers so there’s a huge range of colors you could have with this ribbon.  This ribbon also comes edged in gold.  And of course, we always need bling so a few Rhinestones are necessary.  I used the Basic Rhinestones for this card but had also made a duplicate and used the Noble Peacock Rhinestones on it.

The Tags in Bloom stamps coordinate with the Label Me Lovely punch that is featured in the current Mini Catalog.

I also used the Flowering Foils Speciality Designer Series Paper, which is also a SAB 2nd release.  The papers are just gorgeous!  The rose gold and silver foil designs will make any project shine. You can even color the white areas using your favorite coloring tools, which is what I did for my card.

Rise and Shine Card – New Sale-a-Bration 2nd Release Items

Coffee is definitely a love of mine. So I was thrilled to see that one of the new stamp sets being offered in the second SAB release had a coffee theme!  And the stamps are reversible, meaning that you can stamp using either side 🙂 The stamps also coordinate with a Holiday carry over, the Cup of Cheers dies.  Here is the Rise and Shine Video that Stampin’ UP! provided to show how to use this stamp set.

I created this card for my monthly card class and all the participants really enjoyed it.  It also uses another new SAB 2nd release item, So Very Vellum Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This paper includes three different colors of vellum with a fun embossed design.  The colors are Pool Party, Purple Posy and Soft Seafoam.  And as you can see from my card, you only need a little bit to really make a statement.

Here are the measurements for the materials:

Thick Whisper White – 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″

Soft Seafoam Card stock – 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″

So Very Vellum – 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″

Garden Lane DSP – 1 1/2″ x 5 3/8″

Whisper White – 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and scrap to die cut oval

Sale-A-Bration Top 5

As I promised a few days ago, I want to share a little more detail about the current Top 5 picks from the Sale-a-Bration offering.   It seems from the last couple of years results that our consumables (paper, embellishments, kits, etc) have been slightly more popular than stamps and dies.

Don’t forget, the Sale-a-Bration products are only available until March 31st, or while supplies last!  Don’t let these amazing products slip through your fingers!

Top 5 Sale-A-Bration Items

January NC Demos Blog Hop – Celebrating!

Welcome to our January NC Demos Blog Hop!  You probably just came from  Ariel Matera’s post, wasn’t it great?  We have such talented demonstrators in our monthly hops.  And we have new participants this month and that is VERY exciting!  If it’s something you’ve been thinking of doing, then please join us!  It’s been a bit more than a year ago that I decided to stop being my own worst critic and actually show some of my creations, lol!  And am I glad I did 🙂

This month’s theme is Celebrating.  Our project could be anything but it had to be centered around a celebration.  And I was thrilled when I saw the theme because one of my favorite Sale-a-Bration sets is Happy Birthday to You.  I really love the cursive font used and I wish there had been a few more sentiments in this set.  And did you know that we are adding a coordinating die set for these stamps?  Woo Hoo, that’s even more reason to love it! Starting Feb., 4th, you will be able to purchase the coordinating dies.   The dies are $27 and there are 5 dies in the set, one die for the entire cake, one that isolates the flowers on the cake, one for a cake stand and 2 other decorative elements (Order #153590).  So if you order the dies along with another $23 in merchandise, you can select the stamp set for FREE!  This is going to be my go-to birthday stamp set for a while 🙂

So, on to my card.    This is another one of those situations where I had the idea in my head, I just wasn’t sure how it was going to look once it was on paper!  I knew I wanted to try using our Pigment Sprinkles in some way on the cake.  Initially I tried using it on the seperate layer of flowers but I didn’t like how that turned out.  So I changed it and added them to the full cake image.  I was much happier with those results.  Our Pigment Sprinkles give you so much variety with little effort.  All I did was to stamp the cake image twice on white shimmer cardstock, using Stazon ink.  One image I cut the full cake and the other I just cut the flowers.  On the full cake image,  I lightly sprayed water on the image and added the sprinkles.  I used a little Melon Mambo and Mango Melody, to coordinate with the colors I used for the flowers.  I focused more on the area that is mostly cake because I was adding a separate layer of the flowers over the image, so it didn’t matter if I got pigment on that part.  And remember, a little goes a long way with this product.   You can see how little I used in the 3rd picture. Then I sprayed a little more water on the pigment.  You don’t want to spray too close to the pigment or it will over saturate the effect.

Next, I used Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody markers to color the flowers.  I finished the flowers off with Wink of Stella.  If we ever discontinue that product it will break my heart!  I used my heat gun to make sure the full cake layer was completely dry, then I added the flower layer to it.  Next, I cut off the bottom of the cake stand and added the ornate cake plate cut in Gold Foil.

For my card layer, I used DSP from the new Pleased As Punch collection, another one of the Coordination offerings that you can purchase starting on Feb., 4th.  Then, I ran a piece of vellum through the Scripty Embossing Folder.  Have you ever used Vellum in our embossing folders?  It’s gorgeous, you have to give it a try if you haven’t done it yet!  I used the Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment on the DSP.  It’s the only way I will stamp sentiments anymore.  I know it’s always going to be perfectly straight!

Then it was time to assemble everything.  A little tip for adhering Vellum, I attached the cake image with dimensionals to the vellum piece first.  Then I turned the vellum piece over and only applied glue to the area that the cake image covered.  That way, you don’t see any adhesive anywhere else on the vellum.  And since there was such a large area that the cake covered, there was plenty of adhesive to hold that piece securely on the card front.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  And I suggest you run, not walk to your computer on February 4th and take a look at all the new coordinating items we are offering.  You won’t be disappointed!  You’ll be able to see them in my Online Store, and they will be “while supplies last” so don’t risk the chance of getting your goodies!

Our next blog hopper is  Jo Anne Hewins, and I know you will love her project.  She always inspires me!  Please click on the NC Demos Pic below (or click on her name below in the list) to see her amazing project!  Thanks for stopping by 🙂

NC Demos December Blog Hop – Sale-A-Bration Celebration!

Welcome to my post for this month’s NC Demos Blog Hop! I appreciate you taking the time to check us out this month.  I know that everyone has been so busy preparing and celebrating Christmas, so I hope you take advantage of being able to just sit and enjoy the projects we all created for this month.  You may have just come from Frances Wagner’s Blog.  If you did, I know that you loved her project, she’s so very creative!

This month’s theme is Sale-A-Bration (SAB).  This is a yearly promotion that allows you to earn FREE items based on your purchases.  For every $50 you spend, you can earn something for free.  And you can choose from stamp sets, Designer Series Paper, embellishments, dies, and kits!  There’s something for everyone.  If you do NOT have a SAB brochure, please let me know and I’ll get one out to you immediately!  AND, if you’ve ever thought about joining the Stampin’ UP! family, SAB is a great time to do so.  You already get a great deal when you sign up to be a demonstrator, but during SAB, you get so much more!!  Contact me if you’d like more information about it

For my project this month, I decided to use the Home to Roost stamp set.  I love the style of this set.  The Rooster lends itself well to just be stamped in a single color, or stamped in black and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin’ Blends or Watercolor Pencils.  I decided to go with a simple design.  And honestly, after the hustle and bustle of the holiday, I NEEDED simple, lol!  I think this card would be great to show a beginning stamper.  It’s not overly complicated, just ink (Stampin’ Blends, in this case), stamps and paper!

I almost always gravitate to full-size cards when I’m creating, but decided to use our note cards this time.  I cut Whisper White cardstock into a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 square and stamped the rooster using Memento Black ink.  Then I colored him using the light Stampin’ Blend versions of Real Red, Smoky Slate, Mango Melody, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.  Then I matted those pieces onto 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 squares of cardstock that coordinated with the color Stampin’ Blends that I used.  Well, except for the Mango Melody, I didn’t like the way that paired with the stamped image so I switched it out to Daffodil Delight.

Next, I stamped the grass using Memento Black, but I stamped off twice.  I also only stamped the top half of the image on the bottom of my note cards.  I wanted to be sure to leave enough room for the sentiment to be under the Rooster image.  I also stamped one image of the grass on the inside of the notecard and also on the outside of the envelope, to tie everything together.  Then I tied 2 pieces of Black Bakers Twine around the bundle.  You can see all the products I used at the bottom of this post.

It took no time at all to make this little set of note cards.  I’m thinking of giving it away as a door prize at my Open House on 1/5.  I have a fair amount of new potential customers and if they sign up to receive my newsletter I will give them a door prize ticket.  Keeping my fingers crossed for getting a few new attendees for my monthly classes!

One quick REMINDER!  You only have until January 2nd to order from the 2018 Holiday Catalog!  If there are any items that you’ve been waiting to order, now is the time to do it winkTo see the retiring items, click HERE!

I hope you enjoyed this project and that you take advantage of all the great Sale-a-Bration products that will be available starting on 1/3!  Thanks for checking out this month’s blog, and please continue on to see what the rest of the talented team has for you to see!  Jo Anne Hewins is next smiley
