Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting my blog today. You may have just come from Frances Wagner’s blog, she always has wonderful projects that she shares with us. Our theme this month is A Scenic View! We have so many stamp sets that represent the outdoors so it was a little challenging to decide which one to use. I love being outdoors whenever I can. Even when it’s during our hot and muggy August weather, lol! There’s just a measure of peacefulness to me to be out in nature and enjoying the sights and sounds.
This month I decided to try a different type of card to share. Slim Line cards have been very popular lately so I decided to try my hand at one. I searched to see if there was a standard size and there really doesn’t seem to be one. So what I did was follow the sizing that I saw on a card that Patty Bennett shared, and she said she just went with the size that would fit into a legal-sized envelope. I know we don’t sell legal-sized envelopes but most people have them on hand, or can easily pick them up just about anywhere.
Since we are coming up on my favorite season, I chose to do my scenic view in Fall colors. This is actually the first time I’ve used the My Meadow stamp set and I honestly don’t know why! It’s so easy to create your own little meadow 🙂 This card only uses stamps, paper, ink, and 2 dies. Well, and of course, Wink of Stella!!
I used Thick Whisper White paper and cut it to 9 1/4″ x 8″, then scored it on the 8″ side at 4″. Then I took the largest die from Stitched Nested Dies and cut the center of the card front. And I actually DID measure where the die needed to be instead of just eyeing it up. Those of you that follow me know that I rarely measure anything, lol! To make the frame, I used Pear Pizzazz paper and first cut a label, again using the largest die, and then I took the next size down and placed it in the center of the cut label to get my frame piece. Then all that was left was the actual stamping. Once I was done stamping, I applied a little liquid glue to the back of the Pear Pizzazz frame, and with the card closed, I just fit it inside the opening of the card front. This is a much easier way than trying to place it in the exact spot on the inside of the card. All that was left to do was stamp the sentiment, which I used from the Beautiful Autumn stamp set.
Here are the colors I used. You can also see them listed at the bottom of this post.
This is what the inside of the card looks like. And does anyone see my oopsy? I’ll mention it at the bottom 😉
I just kept stamping until I was satisfied with the look. Then I used Wink of Stella to color the leaves on the trees. WOS is so dang hard to photograph, but it really does give the card some pop with the shimmery trees.
I stamped a few trees on the envelope front to help coordinate the project.
I hope you enjoy my first Slim Line card! I’m certain I’ll be making more of them and trying different sizes. Now please continue on with our hop and take a look at what Laurie has to share with us, I know you won’t be disappointed!

Love the card have to try that size the one I made was 8 1/2 x 8 and I scored it a 4. Thank for the idea
And I want to try one your size, lol! It’s so great that we get so many new ideas to try after our blog posts!
Beautiful! This is not one set I own, beautiful non the less. I love fall just as much as spring. Great color combination.
Thanks, Amy 😊
Toni, as always your card is fantastic. I haven’t bought the My Meadow stamp set yet, but now you’ve made me need it, too! I’m also going to have to try a slim line card as it is all the rage and I haven’t made one yet. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you, Tracie 😊. I actually got this as a prize patrol at one of the past On Stage events (which seems so long ago!). I loved your project too!
Beautiful, Toni! I also love Fall – because Halloween and pumpkin spice – and this card sure makes me feel the cool breeze and smell crisp air. Love the slimline card layout you chose – it’s perfect for this scene.
Thanks, Ariel! Sorry for the late reply, your comment ended up in my spam folder for some reason 🙁
Toni – What a great card! I’m having fun with the slim line card design also – very addictive 🙂 Your scene is just so peaceful and calming. I love the way you designed the gazebo to be on the framed die cut. Just beautiful – I hope you don’t mind if I CASE! I haven’t used the My Meadow stamp set that is in my craft room. But, I definitely will after being inspired by your card.
Yes, you may absolutely CASE! Truth be told, I didn’t make this card until around 2pm on Sunday…yikes! Nothing like cutting it close! But I had that scene in my mind and thankfully it transitioned to paper perfectly 😊
Awesome card. I haven’t tried the Slim Line card yet. I’ve been meaning too. This is a great card to make at the last minute! I’m impressed! I hope you enjoyed the Leader’s Summit as much as I did. I feel energized. I just hope I follow through on plans!
Thanks, Jo Anne! I really enjoyed making it. And yes, I did enjoy Leader’s Summit, but there was SO MUCH info! I’m so glad we have until 11/1 to review the videos 😊
Great card Toni, I really am liking these slim cards. I have made one but you have inspired me to make more.
Thanks, Frances. I see more in my future too 😊
