NC Demos Blog Hop – It’s A Gift!

Hello and welcome to our November NC Demo Blog Hop! I’m so glad you’re here. If you started with me, thank you for being a follower. If you ended up hopping here from Jo Ann Hewin’s blog, thank you for your interest in our monthly hop. 🙂 This month has to be one of my favorite themes. I love making gift items, and I know everyone will have some great projects!

Gift cards are what I use the most this time of year. I hate to say it, but I go with gift cards unless I know that the person I am buying for has a specific gift in mind. I used to love selecting what I felt was a perfect gift for family and friends. But to be honest, I am out of ideas!

My project this month is based on a layout Ronda Wade recently re-shared. I remember making these several years ago and I’m glad she posted the layout again. The beauty of this project is that it’s so quick to complete, AND, it uses one of our card envelopes as its base! How cool is that?? You can make these fancy, go with the basics, or something in between.

This is the first version that I made. I had created quite a few of those cute little deer faces from the Reindeer Fun dies. Since I had several on my desk, that’s what I reached for first.

As I mentioned, the base for the gift card is one of our SU! envelopes. Preparing it to be a gift card holder takes just a few steps.

First, fold it in half vertically. Then cut down the center of the flap and across the top fold to remove the top right flap. I used a retired 3/4″ circle punch to cut a semi-circle at the top of the inside flap (this step isn’t necessary but I think it makes it easier to remove the card insert). The last step is to seal the top left flap. Now you have the base ready and are all set to decorate.

This is the 2nd version I made.

Unfortunately, the color isn’t showing the best but the tag is made with Misty Moonlight and coordinates perfectly with the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper.

The supplies I used for this version are also listed below.

I hope you enjoyed this fun project! I’d love to see your version, if you decide to make one 🙂 Now, please continue on through the rest of the blog hop. Laurie Meier is next and always has a great project to share.

  1. Toni – I know what kind of gift card holders I’m making for our grandkids this year! Thanks so much for sharing this project. It’s awesome and so versatile. I LOVE that the base is made from an envelope.
