Welcome everyone! Thanks for visiting our NC Blog Hop for June. This month’s theme is anything related to Summer. I for one can’t believe that we are already in Summer, can you!? Although the temps have certainly felt like it.
You may have just hopped over from Jo Anne Hewins’ blog and I know she shared a great project! I am always inspired by her. This month, I knew I wanted something with a tropical theme for my project, so what better than our Timeless Tropical stamp set? If this set doesn’t say, Summer, nothing does!
I wanted this card to have lots of layers and texture, so I used multiple embossing folders and die sets. The card starts with an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Pool Party cardstock, scored at 4 1/4. Then a layer of Crumb Cake cut at 5 3/8” x 4 1/8″. I cut another layer of Pool Party at 5 1/4″ x 4″ and this is what I used to layer all the other pieces of the card.
Using the Basic Borders die set, I took a 5 1/4″ by approximately 2 1/4″ piece of Basic White card stock and cut my clouds. Then that piece was run through my Emboss & Cut machine using the Bark 3D embossing folder. It gave it just the right amount of texture to resemble clouds, I think. Then I used the border die from the Inspiring Canopy dies and cut 2 pieces of Crumb Cake card stock which measured 5 1/4″ by approximately 1 1/2″. Those pieces were embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder, then shaded with a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink. I think it gives a good representation of a sandy beach. I took a small piece of Pale Papaya cardstock and cut the sun using a die from Tasteful Labels. Then, to finish it off, I used the ink to stamp technique and colored the palm tree image with Old Olive and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write markers and stamped them on Basic White card stock. I stamped 2 full images and 2 of just the treetops. I used the In The Tropics dies to cut out the trees and treetops. I applied the treetops to both full palm tree images using mini dimensional to give them a little more depth. And of course, I had to give some shimmer to those treetops, so I added my favorite embellishment, Wink of Stella. The sentiment comes from the Timeless Tropical stamp set and I stamped it on Basic White card stock and Memento ink, then fussy cut it. Then it was just a matter of assembling all those pieces on the Pool Party layer.
For the inside of the card, I used Pale Papaya and Crumb Cake markers to color the pineapple image and stamped that on a 5 1/4″ x 4″ layer of Basic White card stock and stamped a sentiment from Friends Are Like Seashells using Black Memento ink.
I hope this card made you think of Summer! I can see myself sitting between those palm trees with a nice cool beverage and a good book!
Now please continue on to the rest of the hop to see what our amazing NC demonstrators have in store for you. Amanda Howard is next up and if I’m not mistaken, this is her first time hopping with us! Welcome, Amanda!

Toni you are an inspiration! Love your card and all the elements you used. I love pulling from different places for a project. I really love the Tasteful Labels dies for the sun! Fantastic card!
Jo Anne, that’s so sweet of you :). I had fun building the scene and love that our materials coordinate so well together!
Great card! It totally makes me want to go on vacation right now!
Martinette, can I go with you, lol!!??
Love this! I am not a huge fan of the beach, but your card looks so serene I just want to go hang out in a hammock with the sea breezes. Great use of texture as well. Love.
Thanks, Any! I used to love going to the beach but I can’t take much of the sun anymore. But I do love sitting under an umbrella with a good book and a good breeze!
Wow, Toni! Awesome card! I love all the layers and feel like I am at the beach! Thank you SO much for sharing!
Thanks, Traci! That was my goal, to transport you to the beach 😊 🌴☀️⛱
I love the effect of the embossing folder and the colors are perfect for this scene.
Thanks, Amanda, it was a lot of fun putting it together 😊
Toni – Oh my! What a great card! I love all the textures and layers that you added. They are simply perfect. You definitely captured the summer theme with your design. And, yes, enjoying a pina colada and a great novel on the sand between the two palm trees sounds awesome!
Thanks so much, Laurie! And I’m glad we think alike, I would be in the chair next to you with a margarita, lol!
