NC Demos May Blog Hop – Teamwork!

Welcome to our monthly NC Demos blog hop. You may have just visited Jo Anne Hewins’ blog, and I know she shared a great project! As you may know, each month we have a blog topic or theme to work with, and this month the theme is teamwork. We were to use something new from the Annual Catalog AND something that returned from a previous catalog…hence, teamwork 🙂

My card this month is what I call a flap front card. There may be a more technical name for it, but I don’t know what it is, lol! The focal point, which for this card is the sentiment, flips open and the left side of the card opens for you to see the inside.

For the new product, I chose to work with the Beauty of Friendship Photopolymer stamp set. And for the returning product, I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I’m so glad these dies carried over to the new catalog because they are one of my favorites.

I also decided to use some of our new 2021-2023 In Colors for this card. And to be perfectly honest, I decided to use what had started out as being one of my least favorite of the 5 new colors. Evening Evergreen definitely did not wow me when I first saw it. I felt it was just so dark. BUT, when I paired it with a little Soft Succulent and added coordinating Designer Series Paper from the Beauty of the Earth pack, I was hooked!

This card is pretty simple to make. Other than die-cutting the 2 pieces that I used for the sentiment, the rest was just plain and simple stamping. And the images in this stamp set make it so easy. I stamped one treetop image full strength with Soft Succulent and the other treetop image was stamped off once to give a slightly lighter color.

When it came time to assemble the card, I took the tag with the sentiment and lightly scored the right side where the semi-circle was and folded that under the tag. I glued that scored piece to the right hand side of the open card base and then put the strip of DSP over that, which created the ‘flap’ part of the card.

Here are the measurements for the card:

Evening Evergreen card base – 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 3 1/4″

Evening Evergreen die cut – 4″ x 3″

Soft Succulent die cut – 3″ x 2 1/2″

Beauty of the Earth DSP – 5 1/4″ x 1″

Basic White – one piece 5 1/4″ x 3″ (card front) and 5 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ (card inside)

If you’d like to order any of the supplies I used for this card, simply click on the images below and it will take you directly to my online store. And don’t forget to use the monthly Host Code that is always posted on the right hand column of every blog post. I send a thank you gift for any order over $50 (before tax & S/H)!

Below is the code for May, but be sure to look for the most recent code if you are seeing this post after May.

I hope you enjoyed my project this month. Now please continue on through the hop and see what Tina Lesson has to share with us this month 🙂

  1. I love the fold you used today, simple but very pretty. Evening Evergreen is one of my favorites, but I’m a green person. I’m glad the Stitched So Sweetly dies carried over as well. I always look forward to seeing your projects! Thanks.

    • Thanks, Jo Anne. I fluctuate between blues and greens, myself. I’m lad I forced myself to use Evening Evergreen because I do like it now!
