It’s that time again! Our monthly NC Demos Blog Hop is live and you may have just come over from Tina Lesson’s blog, where I know she shared an amazing project with you.
Our theme for this month was to create a scene using stamps, dies, punches, etc. For the first time in a while, I knew immediately what I wanted to do for my projects! I have fallen in love with our Sand and Sea Suite from the Jan – Jun Mini catalog. All of the products in the suite are amazing, but the die and embossing folder for the shells and the pearlized paper are without a doubt my favorite! I decided to so a card and a box for my projects this month.
It’s pretty amazing how the Pearlized paper transforms when you emboss it. Just look at the difference!
This beautiful image can certainly be used as is, it would look lovely layered on a piece of our Sand & Sea DSP and placed in a special frame. But, I decided to cut it apart and use all of those lovely pieces!
I’ve been wanting to make a diorama card, but like most things, it catches my eye and then goes in to the never ending pile of projects I want to try. But I decided to make the commitment this month, and I’m glad I did. I love how this card turned out.
I also decided to make a gift box that coordinates with the card. I’ve always enjoyed making gift packaging but will admit that I don’t always have great success with the outcomes, lol! I found this pattern online and was so happy that it actually turned out perfectly. I found the trick to be that whatever size you need for your box bottom, just make the lid 1/16″ of an inch larger, and then use the same measurements for your score lines on both the top and the bottom. I used the rest of the pieces that I had cut apart from the original seashell die-cut.
I’ve included a tutorial and a video at the end of this blog post so that you can give it a try yourself 🙂
I am sad to say that several of the components of this project will be retiring soon 🙁 The Seaside Spray paper has already sold out, although it is still currently available in the 2019-2021 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock Assortment. As of this posting, you can currently still get the Seaside Spray Ink Pad, Sand and Sea DSP, Layering Oval Dies, Stitched Shape Dies and Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon all will retire on May 3rd (or when supplies run out). So if you wanted to duplicate this project and don’t have those items on hand, you may want to get your order in NOW!
I hope you have enjoyed my projects this month. Please continue to hop along to see what everyone else has done. Laurie Meier is next on the hop, her projects are always amazing!

Thanks so much. Tina 🙂
Oh, Toni, what great projects. I absolutely love the card. I’ve got to learn to make that . Haven’t looked at the video yet but I will. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you liked them, Jo Anne 🙂 The card and box are both pretty easy. The video is a bit longer than I normally do but it is for 2 projects!
Lovely card and box duo! Absolutely love this suite💕 Thanks for the tutorial🤗
Glad you like it 😊. We’ll get together soon and make it together!
Toni – Your card and box are really stunning! WOW – I really love how you used all the pieces from the embossed piece in your decoration. Just brilliant. The diorama is absolutely beautiful! I hope you don’t mind if I CASE it! And, now, I definitely need to get many of these products before they are sold out from the retiring list 🙂 Thank you SO much for sharing your projects!
Thank you so much, Laurie, and please feel free to case 😊. I love that suite and want to do more with it. I’m glad it’s carrying over!
