Feb. NC Demos Blog Hop – 2021-2023 In Colors

Welcome to our monthly NC Demo Blog Hop! Thanks for joining us. You may have started with my blog, or you may have just visited Jo Anne Hewin‘s blog where she shared her amazing project. I hope you take a look at all the blogs this month as we have a very talented group of demonstrators!

As you can see from the subject, our theme this month is our 2021 – 2023 In Colors. In Colors are a set of 5 colors that SU! introduces every 2 years. They are colors that are on trend in the creative world and they are in addition to our existing 48 colors. This particular group of colors will be retiring at the end of May, to make way for the next set of In Colors, which will be 2023-2025. While we are sad to see colors retire, we’re always excited to see what new ones we get to play with for the next 2 years.

We were supposed to pick our favorite out of the group, but I honestly love them all. So I decided to do a card that showcases them.

Since Spring has been on my mind, especially with the random 70-degree days we’ve been getting, I decided to pull out the Hand Penned stamp set and matching dies. The flower image allowed me to use all the colors. And I emphasized them by placing small scraps of paper on the diagonal behind the main image. I also used a new product for the embossing folder. This folder will be available starting March 1st as part of our first On-Line Exclusive offering. The folder is packaged with 2 other embossing folders so you get a set of 3! Unfortunately, I could not include the folder in the supply section as it’s not yet available to purchase. The embellishments are the Pastel Adhesive Sequins that are in the current Mini Catalog and will be available until the end of May.

I stamped the image in Memento Black and used Stampin’ Blends to color them. And to add a little depth, I stamped the image again on a piece of scrap paper and colored and fussy cut 3 of the flowers, and attached them using Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped on Basic White and die cut with the Stylish Shapes dies, as was a piece of Gold Foil for the banner. I think the little bit of gold really makes the sentiment stand out, and it coordinates so well with the sequins.

To complete the project, I stamped one of the flower images on the envelope corner, as well as on the inside of the card (not shown).

  1. I love that you used all of the colors. Great idea to make doubles of some of the flowers and use with dimensionals. I’m hoping some of these colors will be part of a refresh.

    • Thanks, Tonya. I really do like all the colors from this grouping. I will say that’s not always the case though, lol! Getting excited to see what our next selection holds for us 🙂

  3. Toni – Your card is simply stunning! I love the way you used the five strips behind your focal point to really bring out the colors. And, including all five In Colors was brilliant! The dimension on your flowers is also just beautiful. I hadn’t really “seen” the new embossing folder and now know that I really need it. What an amazing embossed pattern! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful card!

    • Laurie, you are too kind 😊. I’m so glad you enjoyed my card. It didn’t end up being what I initially envisioned, but I do like where it ended.
