Hi Everyone! Thanks for joining us on our Blog Hop this month. Our theme is celebrating mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, or any woman who has made an impact on our lives. This was an easy one for me, because my Mom has always been an inspiration to me, and continues to be. She was widowed at a very young age and was faced with the daunting task of raising 5 children pretty much on her own. Of course, there was support from her family, but at the end of the day, she was the one who shouldered the main responsibility. She worked hard to maintain a loving home for us, and while we weren’t rich in the monetary sense, we were never without the things we needed. And that continued throughout our lives, even into adulthood. She was tough, but fair and the lessons I learned from her have made me the person I am today. So, I simply want to THANK her for that.
I chose to use a combination of two stamp sets to create my card for this month. And, as a result, you get to see a little sneak peek of one of our upcoming Host Sets! The set is called Hand Delivered and it is just amazing! In addition to the little placard (where you can create your own message!), you have choices of a bunch of balloons, a pile of books and a multi-tiered cake. You also have a couple of options for the skirt, AND there are 7 sentiments! So there’s lots of potential with this set. I used the flower print because my Mom always wore a skirt or dress to her job. I always thought she looked beautiful! So this pattern reminded me of how she used to dress. The other set I used is Apron of Love. I’m very happy that it will carry over to the new annual catalog! That’s where the flowers, hearts and “Mom” came from. And just a reminder, while the stamp set and dies will carry over to the new catalog, you will NOT be able to purchase them as a bundle. So, save yourself a little money and purchase it before May 31st so you can save 10% on the bundle! The new host set will be available starting June 2nd.
It took no time at all to color in the pattern on the skirt using our markers. I added a little bling to the card, using Wink of Stella on the hearts and the flowers on the skirt. And just to dress it up a little bit more, I topped it off with a few pearls. I really love the colors, Flirty Flamingo, Bermuda Bay, and Daffodil Delight go together really well, I think.
All supplies used are listed below.
I do hope you enjoy my card! Please continue on with our hop to see how the others chose to recognize the women who inspire them. I am always so excited to see what my stamping sisters come up with! Jo Anne Hewins is next on the list. See you next month!
