Hello and welcome to our June NC Demos Blog Hop! I hope you are enjoying the first week of Summer, hard to believe we are at the end of June already. And we are about a month into our new Annual catalog. I’ve been having a great time going through the catalog and adding to my wish list. And that list keeps growing, lol! There is just so much to love about this year’s catalog. If you don’t already have one and would like one, please leave me a comment on this post or on my FB page (https://www.facebook.com/tonimariscreations/) and I will get one out to you.
So, for the task at hand, showcasing a couple of new favorites from the catalog. The stamp set I used, Memorable Mosaic, is still a bit of a surprise to me because it’s not normally something I’d gravitate to. But, we received a pack of the coordinating DSP, Mosiac Mood, at On Stage in April so I figured I’d purchase the matching stamps. And I’ll tell you, I’ve really enjoyed using this set!
I decided that since my July class is going to feature fancy folds, I’d use that theme for this card. I saw a post by Jackie Bolhuis – Klompen Stampers and she featured this really cool fold. What I liked most about it is that it shows both sides of a sheet of DSP. The DSP is 5 1/2″ x 12″ and it’s scored at 1 3/4″, 4 3/4″ and 7 3/4″ and you fold that accordion style. That piece is essentially your base. You also need a piece of cardstock (I used Very Vanilla) that is 4″ x 5 1/4″ which is layered on the last panel of the scored DSP. And to finish it off you need one piece of card stock that is 2 3/4″ x 4″ (I again used VV) and a piece to mat the VV, which is 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ and I used Garden Green for that. When mounting the matted piece, you only want to put adhesive on the left-hand side of the smallest folded panel so that you can open the card.
This is a very simple card to make and is great for using up DSP that you have on hand. I am definitely going to make several versions of this card using some of the beautiful DSP papers we have in the new annual catalog!
One of my other favorite items in the new catalog is the Parcels and Petals Bundle.
I LOVE boxes and bags so anytime we come out with a new die for them, I just have to get it. I only used the dies for my 2nd project, but I used the Mosaic Mood DSP to keep the theme consistent. I will tell you that it took me several attempts to figure out how to assemble this box! It is definitely easier to work with using DSP versus our card stock, but you can use either. I posted a video on my Facebook page, Toni Mari’s Creations, to show how to assemble this box.
So, these are just a couple of my favorite things from the new catalog. There are so many more, lol!
