SU! 2018-2020 In Colors – Saying Goodbye!

Hello and welcome to our March NC Demo Blog Hop!  I’m so glad you decided to join us.  I’ll start off by saying we are all dealing with an unprecedented situation with the current health concerns that are affecting not only us but our entire world.  It’s very easy to become overwhelmed with all the news we are seeing 24/7.  I have found that I need to limit my exposure (no pun intended) to the constant flow of information, so I’m definitely spending more time doing something that helps me relax and that is stamping!  I hope you are finding a way to get a break as well.  Remember, we need to take care of our mental health as well as our physical health!  So, let’s focus on some stamping 🙂

Our topic this month is the retirement of 2018-2020 In Colors.  You may have just hopped over from Libby Foreman’s blog, and I know she shared a fantastic project.  We were asked to create a project using just one of the colors, using paper, ink, and embellishments.  It was tough to decide on just one color!  But I decided on Blueberry Bushel, which is probably my favorite out of the group.

I also decided to use a stamp set that I haven’t touched in quite a while.  I actually used it for a card class last year and I don’t think I’ve touched it since, and that’s terrible because it’s such a great stamp set!   And it lends its self well for doing a monochromatic card (although I did sneak in a little bit of Granny Apple Green  😉 ).  This card is super simple to make!  So I decided to make 3 versions of it, each one using a different vase.

Here are the 3 cards

And if you’ve followed my blog posts you know that my embellishment of choice, Wink of Stella, was used to color in the flowers.  And because the classic ink is water-based, the Wink of Stella ‘pushes’ the color making it look a little bit like water coloring, and I love that.  I just wish Wink of Stella photographed better, it’s really hard to see how pretty it is.  I also added the smaller sized rhinestones, because I think a card always looks better with bling!  You can click on the image below for the instructions for making this card 🙂

I’m really going to be sad to say goodbye to 2018-2020 In Colors, but I’m very excited to see what our new colors will be in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!  If you would like your very own copy, comment on this blog post and I’ll be sure to have one sent to you.

Just a quick reminder that there are only a couple of days left of our Sale-a-Bration promotion!  You can still earn free products with your qualifying order.  And you can still sign up to be a demonstrator and enjoy the extra benefits that are offered during SAB which are a mini paper cutter, a 6×6 assorted paper pack AND any free stamp set from the Annual Catalog or the Current Mini Catalog.  BUT you must act quickly, the last day is Tuesday, March 31st 🙂

Sneak Peek! Ornate Gardens in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog

Don’t you just love it when you can be ahead of the game?  I know I do, and Stampin’ UP! is giving you that opportunity starting on April 1st.  And no, this is NOT an April Fool’s joke!  This beautiful collection of stamps, dies and accessories are going to be featured in our upcoming 2020-2021 Annual Catalog and you can get your hands on it BEFORE the catalog goes live.  And I’ll share another tip, there’s a way you can get it NOW!  I’ll explain more on that a little further down this post 🙂

Take a look at some of the amazing ideas from Stampin’ UP!

You can see all the details of what comes with the Ornate Garden Suite and download it by clicking here.  And remember, you can order just the items you want, but honestly, who can resist them all!

I mentioned above that there was a way to get these items BEFORE April 1st.  If you join SU! before March 31st, you can pick items from this suite as part of your Starter Kit!  How awesome is that?  And because we are still in the Sale-a-Bration time frame, as part of that offering you can pick ONE FREE STAMP SET, which can be either of the stamp sets featured in this collection.  This is an amazing opportunity to become a demonstrator and start off with products that you know will be in the new catalog.  It’s truly a great investment!  You can find out more about joining by clicking here.

In light of the current situation we are all facing with the worldwide health concerns, I will be spending more time in my craft room creating, so stay tuned for more samples using this beautiful suite!

Happy Stamping!

Tags In Bloom – More SAB 2nd Release Items!

I notice that I tend to fall into certain color combinations and stay with them for a while.  Right now I seem to be using a lot of blues and greens in my creations.  It wasn’t my intention when I started working on cards for my March monthly class but it turned out that way, lol!  This is another card that uses some of the new 2nd release items from Sale-a-Bration.

We have so many papers and colors that coordinate so beautifully!  Just look at how the ink colors of Night of Navy, Old Olive and Pretty Peacock blend with some of the Perrenial Essence DSP.  And the Noble Peacock Foil paper placed behind the stamped label really helps the image pop.  To apply the ink to the Flowering Foils DSP, I just used a sponge dauber, one for each ink color.  And using a very light touch, I applied the ink in a swirling motion to help blend it and not leave harsh lines where the colors meet.  A light touch is always best, you can go back and add more color if you want to.  The Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon helped pull everything together.  And here’s a tip for you, this ribbon can be colored with any of our Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers so there’s a huge range of colors you could have with this ribbon.  This ribbon also comes edged in gold.  And of course, we always need bling so a few Rhinestones are necessary.  I used the Basic Rhinestones for this card but had also made a duplicate and used the Noble Peacock Rhinestones on it.

The Tags in Bloom stamps coordinate with the Label Me Lovely punch that is featured in the current Mini Catalog.

I also used the Flowering Foils Speciality Designer Series Paper, which is also a SAB 2nd release.  The papers are just gorgeous!  The rose gold and silver foil designs will make any project shine. You can even color the white areas using your favorite coloring tools, which is what I did for my card.

Rise and Shine Card – New Sale-a-Bration 2nd Release Items

Coffee is definitely a love of mine. So I was thrilled to see that one of the new stamp sets being offered in the second SAB release had a coffee theme!  And the stamps are reversible, meaning that you can stamp using either side 🙂 The stamps also coordinate with a Holiday carry over, the Cup of Cheers dies.  Here is the Rise and Shine Video that Stampin’ UP! provided to show how to use this stamp set.

I created this card for my monthly card class and all the participants really enjoyed it.  It also uses another new SAB 2nd release item, So Very Vellum Speciality Designer Series Paper.  This paper includes three different colors of vellum with a fun embossed design.  The colors are Pool Party, Purple Posy and Soft Seafoam.  And as you can see from my card, you only need a little bit to really make a statement.

Here are the measurements for the materials:

Thick Whisper White – 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 5 1/2″

Soft Seafoam Card stock – 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″

Retiring 2018-2020 In Colors!

Believe it or not, we only have a little over 3 months left that we can purchase the bold, bright selections of the 2018-2020 In-Color lineup!  That’s right, these beauties will retire at the end of May.  I wanted to give you an early heads up about this.  Once everyone starts to realize that these colors are going away, they start buying up ink refills, cardstock, and embellishments long before the Annual Catalog retires.   So, now is the time to grab them!

five ink pads

I joined a Blog Hop last June where we had to use these colors so I thought I’d share with you the card I made for it.

Click on the ink pads below to see all the rest of the coordinating products that go with each color!

NC Demos October Blog Hop – My Favorite Things

Welcome to the October NC Demos Blog Hop!  You may have just hopped over from Tina Lesson’s blog, wasn’t her project great?!

This month our challenge was to share our favorite thing or things from the Annual or Holiday catalog.  I definitely had to narrow it down because my post would be like a small novel if I didn’t!  I was able to zero in on one particular stamp set from the Holiday catalog.  I’m am a big fan of penguins. I have always loved them, I just think they are so cute.  Back when I first started dating my husband, he knew how much I loved them and while on a trip, he brought back this guy for me 🙂

And when we got married, he really stepped up his game!  This was his wedding gift to me, a beautiful black diamond penguin necklace.  Needless to say, he’s a keeper!

So, when I saw the new stamp set, I knew I had to add it to my collection.  We’ve had a number of stamp sets in the past that featured penguins, but they were always more whimsical.  I love the real look of these little guys.  And the fact that we can put hats and scarves on them just makes them even better.

This is one of the cards I made recently for an NC Demo Quarterly swap.  There is very little stamping required, it’s more about layers and embellishments.

I love the new 6 x 6 Wrapped in Plaid DSP.  I’ve always been a fan of plaid and I love the colors used in this DSP.  Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce look very elegant together.  And this DSP can easily be used for non-holiday themed cards.

I used Shaded Spruce for the card base and ink for stamping the background on the front flap.  The card base is 6.5″  x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″. The penguin was stamped using Black Memento on a piece of Whisper White that was cut using one of the Stitched Nested dies.  I added a bit of Mango Melody color to his beak.  Wink of Stella was applied to the penguin (have I told you how much I LOVE Wink of Stella?) The scarf was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White and colored using light Shaded Spruce blends, fussy cut and attached to the penguin. I colored one of the rhinestones using the light Cherry Cobbler Blends and attached that to the scarf.  I used the Stitched Nested dies to cut a larger piece of Gold Foil paper, then mounted the stamped penguin piece to that using dimensionals.

The finished piece was layered on to the front panel of the card and a piece of the Shara Sand/Night of Navy Bakers twine was wrapped around the front panel and tied in a bow.

The inside has panels of Whisper White and Wrapped in Plaid DSP (2″ x 5 3/8″) with the sentiment stamped in Night of Navy.  I used a small piece of leftover DSP scrap to break up the Whisper White cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Now please follow along to see the rest of the NC Demo’s blog posts.  Laurie Meier is next and I know you’re going to love her project 🙂

Note* – for easy shopping, you can click on any photo of my featured card and see the list of products used to make it.  Then you can select which items you might need to make your own!

Happy Stamping!
