Welcome to the monthly NC Demos Blog Hop! Thanks for joining us. If you started here, thank you for following me. If you came here from Tina Lesson’s blog, thanks for checking out what everyone submitted this month. I know TIna shared a great project this month 🙂
Our topic for this month is to create a project using stamps and a technique to create a unique background. We were to use ANY stamp big or small. I decided to use one of our new Fall themed stamp sets called Gathering Moments. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, I love the change in the weather and the beautiful fall colors. We still have warm days but somewhat cooler evenings, perfect for sitting around the fire pit!
This technique is called Faux Tile. It’s been a while since I’ve used this technique. In fact, in was May/2023 when I first shared it. You can see that post HERE. I decided to dust it off and use it for this month’s card. This time, I made the tiles smaller. It’s super simple to do, and always has a fun appearance once you are done.

You need a scoring board to get the effect. A paper cutter that lets you score as well as cut will also work. For this card, I used a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I scored at every 1/4″ both horizontally and vertically. Then I used several of the stamp images from the Gathering Moments stamp set to create a background. The trick with this technique is to use a light amount of pressure when you are stamping your images. If you press too hard, the ink will fill in the score lines and you’ll lose that tile affect.
Here’s a better picture of the scored layer.

This is a super fun technique and has so many possibilities for your tile design. Just remember to use that light touch when stamping! I’ve created a tutorial for you, in you are interested. You can find it HERE.
Please continue through our hop to see the other projects submitted this month. Laurie Meier is up next and I know you’ll love what she has to share.

Love your card. I have forgotten about that technique thanks for a reminder.
Thanks, Tina. It is a fun and easy technique 🙂
Toni – Your card is really beautiful! I love how you used the faux tile technique. It brings out the stamped images incredibly well. Fall is also my favorite season 🙂
Toni, I love your card! Faux Tile is one of my favorite techniques and it is perfect with the Gathering Moments stamp set! Thank you SO much for sharing!
Toni, I love the smaller grid you made. Nice card, I do love a little fall too. Thanks for sharing.
